Not on viewPattern, repetition, brilliant color, motifs derived from Asian textiles and medieval manuscript illumination, and the flowing intricacy of stained glass all characterize the work of Cleveland-area artist Douglas Sanderson. The central pattern of this print is meant to evoke the human spine, with a reference as well to the chakras, the cycle of subtle psychic energy that is part of Eastern systems of belief. “All of my experiments with process and imagery,” the artist has written, “are finally finding clarity as a byzantine kind of mystery.”
