On viewThe web of blue lines at the center of this composition alludes to a human spine and the chakra, or seven centers of energy, in Eastern belief systems. This work comes from a series that originated with Sanderson’s study of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man . It grew to incorporate his longstanding interest in ornamentation in Indian, Chinese, and Tantric diagrammatic drawings and paintings of the 10th through 15th centuries.
