On viewRows of latex gloves hang drying on window bars, possibly, per the work’s title, in Sundarbans, the largest Mangrove forest in the world. Singh is known for black-and-white photography documenting middle-class Indian families and domestic life. She frequently presents her vast photographic output on movable screens, conveying how image archives are not fixed, but open to constant reinterpretation. This photograph conveys a similar dialectic of order and variation, with the window bars separating the viewer from a seemingly infinite landscape beyond.
