More Information
Portraitist and art photographer, Kasebier was the most successful of a number of women photographers active at the turn of the 19th century. She exhibited frequently at Alfred Stieglitz's Photo-Secession gallery in New York. The platinum printing process produced a matte surface and rich, velvety tones ideally suited to the soft-focus, handcrafted sensibilities of Pictorialist "art" photography.

Adelia Field Johnston was one of Oberlin College's first women faculty members.
