Not on viewThere are no figures in this serene, austere landscape. The sheer face of a rocky cliff rises from the water up into a hazy sky, framing the mountain with blue and grey. Small trees punctuate the peaks and cling to the craggy base. A tiny waterfall peeks out from a dark crevasse.
The artist has said of his landscapes, "I strive for a concentration of grandeur and substance, solemnity and silence." In The Breath of Autumn, Mansheng Wang has created an untouched natural world, a landscape of escape.
