Abstraction, Blue and Yellow

Emily Mason is known for her ethereal abstractions, whether in paintings, drawings, or prints, that combine fields of color, layered pigments, and spontaneous gestures. She received a Fulbright fellowship in 1956, and studied in Venice and Rome, then had her first solo exhibition in 1960 in New York City. In this work, combinations of the three primary colors of red, blue, and yellow create a vibrant field of textures and shapes.
