Maisel collected X-rays from museum archives of art objects dating back to antiquity and re-photographed them. The artist is interested in how museum documentation, through X-rays and other means, strips the objects of their original context and adds new context. Highlighting damage and repairs invisible to the naked eye, his images imbue the works with an altogether different aura.
