Strewn with flowers, this pair of giant footprints carved into a circular stone at the Mahabodhi Vihar Buddhist temple in Body Gaya is a symbol of reverence for the Buddha, appearing throughout southern India. Connor has traveled widely, using a large format camera to document the intersection of nature and sacred spiritual sites. The warmth and luminosity of this image come from Connor’s use of the 19th-century method of exposing printing-out-paper to ultraviolet sunlight rather than using a chemical process.
