Not on viewA pioneering photojournalist, Bourke-White opened one of her first studios in Cleveland’s Terminal Tower, the second tallest building in the world at the time of its completion in 1927. Bourke-White first achieved recognition through her photography of Cleveland’s mills and factories, a fascination with industry that would continue throughout her career. Here, Bourke-White captures the Terminal Tower behind bridges, power lines, and smokestacks, presenting “the gem of Cleveland” in the context of the city’s booming industrial landscape.
