Not on viewThe identity of the female saint depicted here is unclear, as is the drawing's original function. Although it has been seen as a design for stained glass, a woodcut, or a sculpture, it bears a striking affinity to painted female saints in the predellas of altarpieces of the circle of Hans Holbein the Elder.
