Status
Not on viewA California-based artist of Mexican heritage, Rupert García is an active participant in the Chicano movement. His graphic works explore political themes and issues of civil rights in the United States and beyond. This print’s subject derives from an infamous photograph of the torture of an Iraqi prisoner by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib. The reduction of the hooded figure to a ghostly silhouette renders García’s dark image all the more haunting.
